Welding is a technique for joining metal pieces using a welder. The welding of two metals is not like the joining of two plastics with each other using glue. Welding metal pieces is an art, and not everyone is an artist. Only experts can do this. It is a very difficult task that can only be learned by learning at a nearby welding school or workshop.

I’d like to tell you that you can’t learn about this just by reading and watching before you jump into the depth of the article. To be a professional welder, you have to do it alone. This is because when you do it alone, you will know about your own defects, and you can fix them next time. Welding work is becoming very popular as welding is used in all buildings. It is used for bridges, overpasses, and aluminium steel construction, from houses to large high-rise buildings.

This guide is for those of you who are here to learn how to perform basic welding. After reading this blog, you will be confident that you can do basic welding without using most tools and welding devices. Read on to learn more about this below.

What is Basic welding?

Basic welding refers to the welding or joining of two metal pieces using any type of welder. Do not confuse welding or basic welding because they are the same but quite different. However, you do not need to know this at this point. To create something new, such as creating metal doors, openings, etc., you must combine two or more metals at a specific angle and in a specific direction.

It cannot be welded or combined using only chemicals. You must first weld two metals at the point where you want to create or join a bond between them. These welds are made using a welder or a machine known as a welding machine. This is the basic way of general welding.

Essential things to perform the basic welding

Some apparatus and tools are required to perform basic welding. First, you need metal to combine or weld them to make new useful things. Second, you need a tool that can handle metal pieces such as hammers. Finally, you need a welding machine that melts two metals at the welding point and allows welding to take place between the two metals when the melted metals cool down.

These are the list of things you need to perform the basic welding:

  • Minimum two metal pieces
  • Metal holding and controlling apparatus such as hammers, clippers
  • Safety welding helmet or glasses for your protection( Optional)
  • A welding machine to weld the metals

To perform basic welding, the above four things must exist to you. Without one of these, you cannot perform a weld. Welding can be performed without a welding safety device, such as a welding helmet, but it violates the standards of the welding procedure. If you have everything mentioned above, you are ready for basic welding. Then, follow the steps below to do simple and basic welding yourself.

Steps to Perform the Basic Welding

Follow these simple steps to do basic welding.

1. Selection of Metal pieces

First, you must select metal pieces that can be welded together. To do this, you can purchase metal pieces that are not useful for welding at a nearby welding point and purchase them at a low cost, or visit a nearby hardware store to purchase metal pieces. It is recommended to buy at least 18 gauge metal pieces. Beginners should not buy thinner or thicker ones. This is because it can be welded very easily.

2. Putting the metal Pieces in Equal place

It is then recommended that you place the two weld pieces in the even and equal position on floor of ground. That way, there is no problem using the welding procedure. For this purpose, you can also purchase welding tables later. If you want to continue your welding job, you can buy it before because you’ll need it later.

A welding table is the same place to hold two metal pieces and a pre-made place to work on an easy welding process with a clipper. If you don’t have a welding table, choose the equal, and plain  place and place both metals at angle so that they can be welded.

3. Preparation Of Welding Materials

Once you have installed metals in the appropriate place, you must first clean the metal pieces where you want them to be welded. Use a welding brush to clean the metal. If necessary, use this cleaner or hammer to remove rust.

After very good cleaning, you should place both meals at the specific angle you want to weld. You must orient it in a specific direction.

4. Wearing the safety apparatus

Before you start welding, you must use a welding device for safety. It is recommended to wear a welding helmet to completely protect your eyes from arcs and severe heat generated during the welding process.

All you have to do is buy a welding helmet at a nearby hardware store and wear it. If you can’t buy it as a beginner, at least use dark lens glasses to protect your eyes. However, keep in mind that while glasses only protect the eyes, welding helmets protect not only the eyes but also the face.

Beginners should wear leather-made welding gloves on their hands. Leather protects your hands from arc heat from stick welders or fire from gas mig welders.

5. Welding Of the Metals

After wearing a welding helmet or welding glasses on your face, you are ready to perform the welding procedure. You can use any type of welder, but the welding procedure and difficulty vary from type to type. It is recommended that you start with a MiG welding that is automated and that the wire is automatically released and melted by the fire from the CO2 gas.

You can also continue stick welding, but it’s a little more difficult than MiG welding. So start with MiG welding using the available MiG welder. Now activate the MIG welder and place the gun outlet near the two metal pieces that you want to weld. When you bring the fire close to the mig gun, the fire melts the metal, and the flux core wire melts, preventing rust in the formed weld. After melting, cool for a few seconds to harden. Now, a weld is created, and the two metals are joined.

So far, we have described how to perform basic welding using a MIG welder. I hope it will help you a lot in basic welding.

Here is how you can learn to weld fast

After reading this article, I hope you can perform basic welding easily, but here, I have provided some bonus tips to quickly learn welding as a welder. Go to the nearest welding factory. They will ask you for various tasks to make various different things. In order to weld various metals, you have to use all types of welding such as stick, Mig, and Tig welding..

To weld iron, you must use stick welding. However, aluminium requires Tig welding. If both metals are very thin, you can use a spot welder to weld them using a weak electric arc. Keep learning new things and new skills to be more and more perfect. In fact, practice makes people perfect, so don’t stop doing more and continue learning more.

How much can you earn as a welder?

Welders are high-paid jobs, so you can earn a lot of money and do it in many places in Korea. You can work in the automotive industry, as well as on aviation and naval ships. The best way is to open a welding workshop locally. In the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, you can expect to earn between $18 and $30 an hour. With a welding certificate, you can weld anywhere you want in any country.

How can I get a welding certificate?

To obtain a welding certificate, enrol in a nearby welding academy. After receiving training at a welding academy and taking the test, you can obtain a welding certificate.
